Selling your car online has never been easier with platforms like WeBuyAnyCar, Carwow, and Motorway offering competitive prices and convenience. But which service stands out in 2024? In this post, we rank the top three car-selling platforms based on customer experience, convenience, and sales volume.

If you want to get quotes from all of these companies (and more), use our free no-email service.

Carwow

Rank: #3

Description

Carwow is first up on our 2024 ranking, offering a seamless experience that connects users directly with a wide network of dealers, ensuring competitive offers. They provide the convenience of receiving offers from multiple dealers, allowing you to choose the best price for your car.

Quotor Verdict

Having listed vehicles on the service, we found that although the app was easy to use and listing was quick, this was diminished by the gap between quoted valuations and the offers received from dealers. However, Carwow provided excellent customer service, and we were well informed throughout the process. They even gave us an in-depth rundown of the best times to sell our car.

Stats:

  • Trustpilot Score: 4.5/5 from 60,000 reviews
  • Year Founded: 2013
  • Number of Cars Sold: Over 100,000

WeBuyAnyCar

Rank: #2

Description

WeBuyAnyCar has become a household name in the UK for those looking to sell their cars quickly. They provide instant online valuations and allow users to book an appointment at one of their many branches for a hassle-free transaction. While they may not always offer the highest price, they excel in providing a quick, convenient process for those who need to sell their cars fast.

Quotor Verdict

WeBuyAnyCar does one thing (mainly), and they do it very well: buying your car at a reasonable price, quickly. This is an offering that clearly has value in the market, as they are approaching 20 years of operation and have purchased over 3,000,000 cars. However, we believe that the difference between WeBuyAnyCar valuations and those from emerging services like Motorway and Carwow isn't significant enough to justify the convenience. As Motorway and Carwow become more established, WeBuyAnyCar (and similar companies) may need to offer more to remain competitive.

Stats:

  • Trustpilot Score: 4.7/5 from 250,000 reviews
  • Year Founded: 2006
  • Number of Cars Sold: Over 3,000,000

Motorway

Rank: #1

Description

Motorway has rapidly gained popularity for its ability to offer a competitive price by connecting sellers directly with professional car dealers. Unlike other services, Motorway uses your car’s detailed history and photos to get the most accurate offers from dealers across the UK. While the process may take slightly longer, sellers often receive higher offers than from other platforms.

Quotor Verdict

Motorway takes the top spot for Quotor, and for good reason. We found that the quotes received from Motorway were the most accurate relative to what dealers actually bid. Furthermore, it was extremely simple to upload photos of the car and communicate with the company throughout the process. We also found the overall quality of bidders to be higher on average compared to other platforms. Occasionally, we’ve seen opportunistic dealers offer low prices on competitor websites, but this wasn’t the case with Motorway. Finally, the addition of a car value tracker is a game-changer!

Stats:

  • Trustpilot Score: 4.5/5 from 70,000 reviews
  • Year Founded: 2017
  • Number of Cars Sold per Year: Over 150,000

Conclusion

In conclusion, Motorway is our pick for 2024. Though there isn’t a huge amount of separation between the companies, we particularly appreciated the ease and, more importantly, the accuracy of the platform. With additions like Motorway’s innovative new car value tracker, it’ll be interesting to see how Carwow and WeBuyAnyCar bolster their offerings in 2025.
